GRAPHICSERIES
screen print
graphicseries is an initiative launched by the “rotondes” cultural centre in luxembourg in 2012. the concept is to combine music and visual arts through inviting illustrators or graphic designers to create gig posters in the form of a screen print for the artists performing on the rotondes stage.

the basic idea behind this illustration was inspired by the idea of an intermediate world by the band oum shatt. therefore you find yourself in a scenery that stretches between two open arches/portals. surreal characters often found in my drawings look out of the portals.

as the band deals a lot with social issues in their lyrics and changes of perspective/ additional levels or angles appear in the lyrics, i chose the element of mirroring. my aim was to emphasise the band's focus in terms of design and also to create an additional visual layer. this should also embody the musical diversity and expansiveness of the band's sound.

by listening to the music intensively, i developed an association with an expansive landscape, which also leaves space in the centre of which a volcano is enthroned. my general aim was to create a surrealistic, organic world that captures the intention and sound of the band and unites it with my style.
